Travel to & around Barcelona

To and from the airport of Barcelona

 Bus
The blue "Aerobus" operates a route between the Airport and Plaça Catalunya, right in the centre of Barcelona. There is a stop in front of each of the 3 terminal buildings. The buses have luggage racks and special ramps for disabled passengers.

Using the trains

 Cercanias
The Cercanias are trains that connect the centre of Barcelona with the outer suburbs. They provide a good connection to the airport and are ideal for one-day-trips around Barcelona.

 Regionales
The Regionales cover the different provinces of Spain. Within the region of Catalonia there are a lot of trains and the prices are quite reasonable.

Grandes Lineas
The Grandes Lineas are trains that connect major Spanish cities. They offer an inter-regional network and are more expensive than the Regionales.  Nevertheless they offer direct connections between cities and are so are faster.

Driving by car

The three main highways to get to Barcelona
A7   – coming from France, via Girona
A2   – coming from Madrid, via Zaragoza
A16 – coming from the south, via Valencia and Tarragona

The main ring roads in Barcelona
“Ronda de Dalt” in the north of the city, “Ronda Litoral” in the south.
The two main roads into the city center are “Avenida Diagonal” and “Avenida Meridiana”.

Glòries car park
You can leave your car from one day up to one week in Glòries car park and receive a pass for one person
for the Public Transport System (Metro and Bus) included in the price of the parking.

An individual pass allowing an unlimited number of journeys by metro or bus for one day from Monday to Saturday while your car is parked at the Glòries car park.

TC - WEEK: 19,10
An individual pass allowing an unlimited number of journeys by metro or bus for one week from Monday to Saturday while your car is parked at the Glòries car park.


The best advice about driving a car in Barcelona is:  don't do it.
Parking is a major problem in the city and the Public Transport System is excellent.
